As Doja Cat’s stylist, and with a client roster including the likes of Nicki Minaj, Lisa, Tate McCrae and Karol G–you’ll learn from the premiere stylist cultivating the careers of today’s biggest popstars.
From understanding the creative vision outlined in a director's treatment, to sourcing, fitting, and executing looks on set, to sharing your work with the world, Brett walks you through every stage of styling a music video. Guiding you through ideation to execution, you’ll learn what it takes to style unforgettable looks for a global stage.

Brett Alan Nelson
Brett Alan Nelson is known for pushing boundaries and embracing the extraordinary.
As the sole stylist and creative director behind Doja Cat, Brett has been instrumental in shaping her evolution into one of today’s most visually daring and globally recognized pop icons. His work with Tate McRae, transformed her visual identity and positioned her as a rising star with a bold, new creative direction. An early lover of theater, music, and performance, and his career in styling, has taken him from a small town in Missouri to stages worldwide.
With a signature aesthetic rooted in theatrical color and limitless possibilities, Brett creates custom looks that transcend trends and redefine red carpet impact. Carving out a distinctive voice in the industry, he has collaborated with some of the most influential names in music and entertainment, such as Nicki Minaj, Karol G, Lizzo, Bebe Rexha, and Grimes.
His work has been featured in the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Rolling Stone, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, WWD, Nylon, and Schön! — among many others.

Course Syllabus
Chapter 1
Creative Ideation
This chapter outlines Brett Nelson's creative ideation process, from dissecting the music video treatment, to building moodboards and references, and establishing a strong visual narrative.
Chapter 2
Sourcing Clothing
Brett details the process of requesting, and securing clothing from designers and brands, commissioning custom looks, and aligning wardrobe choices with the project’s creative concept and your vision as the stylist.
Chapter 3
Shooting the Video
This section walks through the production phase, covering the wardrobe team’s role on set, managing changes and fittings during shoot days, and maintaining the integrity of the styling vision throughout filming.
Chapter 4
Finalizing the Project
The final chapter focuses on the wrap-up process, including returning garments, building professional relationships, and sharing your work.

How old I have to be to register for a School of Style course?
School of Style courses are available to students 18 years and older, in any stage of their education or career.
Do I have to to be accepted into School of Style?
Anyone 18 years and older can register for any of our courses during the open enrollment window. There is no application required.
How do I enroll for a School of Style course?
Registration for any of our courses takes place during the Open Enrollment window, and is on a first come first serve basis, with limited spots available. Make sure to join the waiting list to get notified of enrollment opening.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! At checkout students will have the option to pay via buy-now-pay later options such as Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay.
Are School of Style courses offered online or in-person?
We believe geography shouldn’t play a factor in your access to fashion and beauty industry education. We are a digital-first platform with the goal of reaching students anywhere, and everywhere. That said, as a member of our alumni community Style Society, you will gain access to in-person events.
Can international students enroll in a School of Style course?
While our first Fashion Stylist Certification course will be delivered in English, the course is accessible internationally.
Is School of Style an accredited university?
While School of Style is not an accredited university, students who graduate from our Certification Courses will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Is a School of Style Certification recognized by the industry?
Industry professionals have been recruiting students directly from School of Style since 2008, and graduates have gone on to work with some of the most powerful stylists and brands in the business.
Will I receive grades during the Fashion Stylist Certification Course?
While there are no grades at School of Style, students must complete all coursework in order to receive their Certificate of Completion.
Do I need to have prior experience in the fashion industry before registering for a course on School of Style?
Nope! That’s what we’re here for—to give you all of the tools you need to jumpstart your career and help prepare you to get your foot in the door. While we welcome anyone with any level of experience to benefit from our program, it is not a prerequisite.
Will I get to meet or work for Law Roach?
While there will be live guest lectures and interactive experiences with your course mentors, taking the Fashion Stylist Certification Course does not guarantee any personal interaction or job opportunities working with or for Law Roach.
How long has School of Style been around?
School of Style has been around since 2008. In 2023, Law Roach and Kent Belden, CEO and Founder of The Only Agency, acquired the business and revitalized the brand into what it is today, building upon its rich history.
Is School of Style only for stylists?
